About Tip Plus ®

The Citrus Industry’s Game Changer?

Tip Plus ® is the first proprietary information Uniconazole 50g/ℓ registered on citrus in the world.  With its specialised surfactants Tip Plus ® is root applied via drippers or microjets through the irrigation lines thus eliminating the use of a tractor and surface spray equipment and the associated pollution, and also reducing the carbon footprint.

Best results are on vigorous growing varieties of easy peelers (mandarins) and lemons.

Mode of Action

In a plant Gibberellic Acid (GA) impacts on shoot growth and increases inter-node extension, elongation of cells and enhances apical dominance.

Uniconazole is a synthetic GA biosynthesis inhibitor and acts as a growth inhibitor.  The surplus plant energy that would normally have gone into vegetative growth is now directed at the fruit and promotion of flower bud initiation.

What is the effect on citrus?

Use of Tip Plus ® (Uniconazole 50g/ℓ) has the following effect:

  • Reduced vegetative growth resulting in less pruning,
  • Increased yields up to 30% and in some cases even higher,
  • Reduction of the on off production cycle,
  • Better pack out, and
  • In some cases, better colour.

Trial Results

The proof is always in the pudding. Tip Plus ® was trialed over 4 consecutive seasons: 2012/13, 2013/14, 2014/15 and 2015/16 in:

  • Mpumalanga on lemons and Orri mandarin, and
  • Western Cape on lemons and Orri mandarins

Attached are these impressive trial results.
