About Dirk
Dirk Mouton was born on the farm Kweekkraal in the Citrusdal district. His high school career was at Citrusdal High followed by a BScAgric degree at Maties, majoring in Horticulture and Entomology.
Dirk has AVCASA accreditation.
Studies were completed in 2006 and a working career of 12 years at Mouton Citrus began in 2007.
Dirk’s responsibilities at Mouton Citrus were:
- First 7 years Farm Manager including audits and marketing department due diligence.
- Promoted to Technical Manager 2014, an area he enjoyed and excelled in.
Duties Included:
- All aspects of crop protection including pesticide application, herbicides, disease control and harvest manipulation,
- Managing the total crop protection and manipulation program in collaboration with managers and consultants,
- Purchasing and budget management of the above,
- Due diligence for the marketing department including pre-harvest MRL management,
- Management of accreditations including Global Gap, Tesco Nuture, Albert Heijn, Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance, Utz and Field to Fork,
- Orchard monitoring and pest scouting to make recommendations,
- Manage foliar fertilizer applications based on soil and leaf analysis, and
Technical advice to grower partners.
The Mouton Citrus experience was very broad and challenging to which Dirk was eternally grateful.
In 2019 a new challenge beckoned and a commercial opportunity at PW Landboudienste was offered and gratefully accepted.
Dirk’s academic background and vast practical citrus farming experience, including exposure to Tip Plus ® and its benefits made him the ideal candidate to be retained by Tip Agri as the Sales and Technical Manager.
