Trevor Wimbush Profile
About Trevor
Trevor Wimbush is the Managing Director of Tip Agri (Pty) Ltd and is listed as one of the inventors on the Tip Plus ® patent.
He is also the CEO of Tip Plus ® distribution company, Harvest Chemicals (Pty) Ltd.
Trevor Wimbush has over 30 years’ experience in the agrochemical industry, having founded RT Chemicals (Pty) Ltd in 1987. RT Chemicals specialised in generic pesticides and up to the sale of the company in June 2012, had registered and distributed over 60 generic compounds of which over 20 were first generic in the South African market.
Trevors qualifications include BSc(Hons) Chemistry.

These included well known generics like:
- Glyphosate 360g/ℓ,
- Abamectin 18g/ℓ,
- Cyanamide (Deurbraak) 520g/ℓ,
- Fluazifop P-Butyl 125g/ℓ,
- Bromopropylate 500g/ℓ, and
- Buprofezin 500g/kg.
On the sale of RT Chemicals, Trevor Wimbush started up Harvest Chemicals in June 2012. By now the registration process had become much longer (5 – 6 years) and obviously more expensive.
To date the registration success is:
- 28 Act 36/1947 registered products,
- 28 products submitted to the Office of the Registrar, and
- A further 51 actives in various stages of registration.
Although the number of first generic registrations has dropped dramatically, Harvest and Tip Agri has 2 first generic registrations, and Tip Plus ® the first registration of this active ingredient on citrus, worldwide.
These being:
- Abscisic Acid 100g/kg (colouring of red table grapes),
- FF240 (Spinosad 0,24g/ℓ + Attractant) (fruit fly control), and
- Tip Plus ® – Citrus Plant Growth Regulant, the first worldwide registration on citrus.
It is also our belief that Abscisic Acid and FF240 are the first world generics, and Tip Plus ® is the first of its kind in the world.
